Developments in TPH – Ecological Risk
Arthur Buchan will be giving a presentation updating the Northwest Environmental Business Council on the Washington State Department of Ecology (Toxics Cleanup Program) environmental studies as well as developed/proposed protective values for total petroleum hydrocarbons:
Project 1: Completed – Toxicity Testing of Soils Contaminated with Gasoline, Diesel, and Heavy Oil.
Project 2: Completed – Environmental Effects-Based Concentrations for Fresh Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH): Toxicity in Marine and Freshwater.
Project 3: In progress/preliminary values will be presented – Environmental Effects-Based Concentrations for Weathered Diesel: Toxicity in Marine and Freshwater.
Project 4: Proposed – Evaluation of the NWTPH-Dx Analytical Method (including cleanup procedures)

Curtis Eickhoff, PhD of Nautilus Environmental
Richelle Perez of the Washington State Department of Ecology
will be joining Mr. Buchan to add their expertise, and will be available to answer questions.
Curtis was the Senior Reviewer for the Aquatic Bioassay Studies (Project #2 and #3) that were submitted to the Washington State Department of Ecology; and Richelle Perez is the Policy and Technical Support Unit Supervisor for the Toxics Cleanup Program.
