Telling your Story, Writing your Grant

Get tips from successful grant applicants and funders on how local government and non-profit grant applicants should prepare for, and write, grant applications for Federal and State grants. In this workshop you will learn about:

  • Current Federal and State grant solicitations and loan pools.
  • Reading between the lines on what funders are looking for.
  • Latest focus of several funding agencies.
  • Assessing your organization's responsiveness to funder priorities.
  • Tips on telling the story of how your community addresses funder programs.
  • Trends in grant requirements.
  • And more!

The workshop will include a panel presentation, followed by a hands-on workshop and forum. Speakers will share their expertise regarding factors that lead to compelling grant applications in an increasingly competitive environment. Time permitting, select speakers can provide feedback on current grant applications from attendees.

(For Consultants & Service Providers)

Winning Work with Public Agencies – From Relationship to Execution

Representatives from a range of public agencies will be on hand to give their perspective on what it takes for consultants, contractors, and other service providers to win work with their organizations. In this workshop you will learn how to: 

  • Approach and communicate with public agencies before, during, and after the RFP process.
  • Build teams that inspire confidence.
  • Prepare proposals that score high.
  • Maintain positive relationships during execution of the contract

Agencies will share their secrets regarding key factors that lead to winning work in a highly competitive environment and provide examples of what not to do. After a number of short presentations by agency representatives, attendees will have an opportunity to meet with each of the agency representatives in small group settings and ask questions specific to their areas of interest.
